With many DJs and producers getting their start decades ago, fresh young talents like Denver’s Crazy Larry prove that being a late bloomer isn’t such a bad thing. Having discovered dance music in 2000 after the rave scene had begun to fizzle out, he was driven to seek out underground music any way he could. After holding a 2-year residency at The Upstairs Lounge in St. Louis, he returned to Denver to study audio engineering. He’s since immersed himself in the local scene, throwing parties and holding residencies at Shelter and Vinyl. In 2006, he debuted his Live PA set (featuring homemade plug-ins, vintage drum machines, and even a Nintendo Wii), and has also teamed up with Chilean producer Pier Bucci to form Glacier. Larry’s sound is clean, funky, and dark, and his live sets are an exciting mix of influences including soul, funk, and minimal techno.
