For the past 3 years Decibel has brought together some of dance music’s most influential artists as part of the “Dirty Dancing” showcase. Previous years we’ve hosted Green Velvet, Speedy J, Robert Babicz and 3 Channels, all of who whipped dB audiences into a frenzy of dance floor hedonism. This year we’ve raise the bar with three of underground dance music’s most respected new comers, all of whom have been praised as the future of dance music in their own right, through countless awards, massive club/festival exposure and critically acclaimed productions/remixes. For those with an ear for dirty beats and relentless baselines, this showcase is a must.
Making his Seattle debut is none other than Toronto based wiz-kid Deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman) whose production the past two years have made him the most sought-after producer in the electro house, progressive and techno scenes alike. The key to Joel’s massive popularity comes from his incredibly diverse production output and whimsical live performance, which has him adorned in a handmade mouse helmet complete with sound activated LEDs lights (you have to see it to believe it). Aside from headlining dance stages at massive events like Ultra, Coachella, DEMF and Creamfields; Deadmau5 is the most downloaded and critically acclaimed artist on the most influential download site for dance music on the planet, Beatport (nominated for 6 Beatport Music Awards, 4 of which he took 1st place in, including “Most influential, forward-thinking and relevant person of the year”). Co-headling are Italy’s Luca Bacchetti (Wagon Repair, Samuri.FM) and the Chicago production duo Santiago and Bushido, who’ll be performing a debut live set before Deadmau5 that is could very well steal the show. Opening will be the Portland based techno producer Let’s Go Outside, who’s recent releases on the UK-based Soma label have had him touring the world over.
