About

Early releases gained support from some of music’s most important names. Benji B, Gilles Peterson, and Jamie XX were early champions, Ikopol was released as part of Adult Swim’s {UNCLASSIFIED} compilation alongside tracks from Burial, Kode9 and Untold.

Having toured extensively as a DJ, headlining club shows all around the UK and Europe, Dauwd has also won over the likes of Nick Höppner (OstGut Ton) and Kompakt label boss Michael Mayer who included Ikopol on his mix for Faze Magazine.

New productions move away from the UK sound, drawing on house and techno and expressing a long-standing love of these genres. Clearly the dance floor has permeated into the studio.

Dauwd creates music with complexity most contemporary producers shy away from. Found sounds are thickly laden over multi-timbred synths. Vocal and instrumental stabs punctuate organic and evolving passages guided always by driving percussion and immaculate low-end production. His productions are full and intricate with a wealth of sounds building warm atmospheres that are unusual within dance music. Having worked with Ableton, Dauwd has developed a unique live show working with their new Push controller and live instrumentation.6 year old Dauwd was raised in Wales playing piano, guitar and drums whilst experimenting with electronic production. Now residing in Brighton his early obsessions with tablature have progressed into a specific talent for sequencing and creative percussive textures.Dauwd creates music with a complexity most contemporary producers shy away from. Found sounds are thickly laden over multi-timbred synths, vocal and instrumental stabs punctuate organic and evolving passages guided always by driving percussion and immaculate bass production. The method, “make a noise, make it my noise, then give it some rhythm” certainly seems to work for him. Constantly experimenting, Dauwd describes his creative process as “finding a sound, texture, or moment that you can relate to, and from there develop your narrative.
