This is Zach’s fifth year at Decibel and he has performed live visuals alongside the headlining acts of DJ Shadow and Moby as well as DJ Krush, Flying Lotus, Mad Professor, Carl Craig, Apparat, XXYYXX and many more. He is looking forward to playing with Martyn again this year at the Crocodile, Blue Hawaii at the Showbox and his first optical at the triple door with Douglas Dare and Greg Gives Peter Space.
For the past 4 years he has been developing the Organic Electronics show with Reeps One which has taken the scientific principal of Cymatics and translated it into the artistic realm of live audio visual performance. Using a camera, a speaker and a light the vibrations from the music being produced live on stage form matter in ways that go far beyond what computer based visuals can produce. Zach’s video installation pieces were premiered in the fine arts setting forming a significant part of the recent Reeps One ADO Exhibition, as featured on the BBC London News.
This year he has been commissioned by the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in Berkely,CA and Guerrilla Science (UK/USA) for full scale development of an interactive cymatics sculpture that will be used to engage the public with Math and Science through the Arts. In April he performed a live cymatics visual show and created a video installation piece that was projected on the outside of the MSRI building.
He started Make.AMPLIFY with award-winning dance artist Jennifer Irons last year. MakeAMPLIFY works together and with a wide range of people around the world, they create site-specific installations and interactive live performances that engage, challenge and surprise. Using art, movement and innovative digital technology they reveal the hidden, the ignored, the discarded and the forgotten to inspire people and create meaningful experiences for audiences, clients and participants alike.
Zach was brought on as the Visual Director for DJ Yoda’s recent residency at Band on the Wall in Manchester where he created his new Breakfast of Champions show.
He has been performing as a VJ in the UK for the last 10 years creating visuals that heightened the overall experience and kept people’s eyes as pleased as their ears at parties (fluffy logic), clubs (Cargo, Pacha, Vibe Bar, 93 Feet East, The Big Chill House) and festivals (Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Secret Garden Party, NOVA and Boomtown).
