Special Projects Assistant

Reports to: Production Lead and/or Technical Director (as assigned)

Direct Reports: n/a

Works closely with: Pre-Festival Production Hand(s), Equipment Lead, Backline Equipment Lead

 

Objective/Duties & Responsibilities

 

Provide technical assistance and logistics help to artists and outside groups who are producing special projects for the festival. This might include assisting in constructing an art installation project, providing technical assistance setting up or configuring a sound system or video display system (projector/screens/LED), ensuring that installations are functioning correctly after being installed, and serving as a communication conduit between the people designing the special project and the festival.

 

Requirements


  • Knowledge of relevant sound/audio equipment

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and artists

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Handles high pressure situations with grace and good humor

  • Punctuality and professionalism

  • Ability to make decisions quickly

  • Ability to use common sense approaches and make prudent and sound decisions

  • Ability to provide high quality services in a cost-effective manner and to recommend improved methods of performing the work


Desired


  • Previous production experience working with electronic music

  • Previous production experience working with a music festival

  • Previous production experience working with live music

  • Good ears/eyes


Employment Conditions


  • Possible to have Decibel meetings up to weekly throughout the year

  • Position requires work before and Decibel festival

  • Must have personal computer or daily access to a computer

  • Willingness to check Decibel email daily

  • Evening and weekend required

  • Reliable transportation to/from various Decibel meetings and events
